HANDING OVER A LIVING PLANET CAMPAIGN
BY BILLION TREES AFRICA
THE PROBLEM
Today the effects of climate change and global warming are as a result of decisions made in the past 30 – 50 years by our leaders. This means that whatever actions and decisions we make today will impact and affect future generations.
OUR SOLUTION
As Billion Trees Africa every year we engage primary and secondary schools together with communities living around them in tree planting activities. This is done in the school compounds and the surrounding community areas. We get the parents and elders to lead and guide the children in tree planting symbolizing the HANDING OVER A HEALTHY PLANET to next generation. The school children from then on are responsible for taking care of the seedlings until they finish school.
This will ensure that their children and their children’s children will have a healthy planet when they come to this earth. Outside the schools our tree planting projects are conducted as part of an overall community based sustainable development strategy and are therefore more likely to be successful.
OUR WHY
We chose to be in the sustainability industry because our planet is crying. It needs our help. Nobody wants to revolutionize the way we treat climate change. It’s been business as usual by leaders, governments and industries.
We have disrupted the industry because we saw an opportunity and we said we are going to make a difference in this industry being in the forefront of providing innovative solutions for climate mitigation. This will benefit a lot of people, creating employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for a lot of people.
